According to a report, the Lakers will be targeting both Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James in free agency next season. The Lakers will have the cash as Kobe should be off the books. Is this something you could see happening? If so, what are your thoughts on that possibility?

They are talking about still having Kobe I believe and paying Melo and expecting Lebron to do what he did in Miami by taking a cut of some kind. Just what I heard though. Them three together would be extremely fun to watch, but I hate this about the NBA (and I'm a huge NBA guy) If you get traded away, you get traded away. Not much you can do about it. But there are two things I can't stand about pro athletes and especially NBA players: Ring Chasers at the end of their careers who just try an get rings (Ray Allen most recently) and stars trying to form super teams.... I remember Michael Jordan in an interview once Bosh an James joined Wade, they asked him would you ever want to join up with Bird and Magic early in your career? Michael said "hell no. I wanted to beat those guys" Where is that fire and competitiveness these days? The whole league is best friends. Lebron works out with Durant in the offseason, you see players partying with others across the league. I just don't get it, and it baffles me

That's true, In every professional sports league guys on different teams are all pals. They have made competition almost a joke (especially in the NBA), The desire to be the Best in the Game is no longer there. They are all millionares so why strive for greatness. Unfortunately I think Michael's way of thinking is forever in our past. We live in a softer society where everyone get a participation trophy. That doesn't teach kids anything usefully in their Adult life. (I don't use the term "Real Life" because it bugs me) In a work enviroment everybody is giving a raise or a promotion just because they participate on the team, and if they do that company probably isn't very big, or every will be.

Lebron and Melo can't help the Lakers while Kobe is on the team. They will never get the ball.

That is true...but, Kobe will be done anyway. However, I did read a story that stated the Knicks will let Melo pick his teammates.
