Once again, the Cincinnati Reds bullpen blows another game. Once again, the victim is starter Mat Latos. If the bullpen had not blown any of the games that Latos has started, Latos would be 11-0 this season. Imagine that.
Right now, I have a huge issue with Dusty and his management of this bullpen. He continues to tax this bullpen, all the while, Aroldis Chapman sits in the bullpen. Dusty refuses to pitch Chapman for more than 1 inning.
That is a big problem because a pitcher, who was supposed to be a starter, is being drastically underused. Dusty refuses to use Chapman for a 4 out save. In all my years watching the Reds, I don't think I have ever seen a manager mismanage a bullpen quite like Dusty.
Something MUST change.

I think Dusty costs this team normally 2-3 wins a year because of mismanagement. This year it is looking like that will balloon to 5-6. In a tight division, that is going to be the difference of winning the division and playing the play-in game on the road... All courtesy of the Chomping Toothpick. Besides if we did make it to the playoffs, I do not seein the Reds going far with Dusty as the skipper. It takes some creativity to generate wins in the playoffs. Look at how Tony LaRusa use to manage. That guy would use every tool he had to win a game. With Dusty, you open the "How to Manage Baseball for Dummies" and you will find his step by step game plan... for every game.

Oh I'd say the 2-3 wins is low...I truly think he costs this team more than that...I have said it before but I have never seen a manager manage directly from the book like Dusty. He is definitley not able to adapt to the ever changing game. This team will NEVER win a World Series with Dusty guiding the ship.

I would take Tony in a heartbeat... I don't see Tony taking Cinci.

I can definitely see it. He has a great relationship with Walt and the Castellinis. I am not sure if he would do it only because he is on the older side. What about Joe Torre? His wife is from this area.....I would gladly take him!!!!!!

I'd take either Joe or Tony. I kinda like Tony more. I think Tony just has issues with some of our players... Going back to the brawl.

I'd take Tony in a heartbeat. I think he would bring more to the table. I do agree with the fact that he has some issues with some of our players...Cueto and BP to name some...

Back to our bullpen. Now that Broxton is down, what do the Reds do?

I think we have to look at acquiring some bullpen help...I don't think we can just patch up the bullpen with arms from AAA...

I think we see Cingrani up here as a short term solution. I am afraid of what we are going to have to give up for a decent reliever.

Cingrani is already up here...we are going to have to trade for help, otherwise, I don't think this team can make the playoffs...

We may need to see more of what happened last night, Simon pitching a 3 inning close. Except Chapman... God knows Chapman won't be pitching anything besides the 9th.
